Downside
risks have increased as concerns of a double-dip recession in the
US have emerged, and sentiment in the Eurozone remains fragile. The
sovereign debt crisis in EU has manifold implications for companies,
with potential risks including a weaker economic outlook, deteriorating
payment trends, and heightened exchange rate volatility. Worryingly,
exchange rate volatility decreases the predictability in trade and
investment dealings for businesses. Back in
Singapore, businesses remain optimistic, albeit a muted economy growth
in 2H11.

positive silver lining while dark cloud abounds the current political
and economic horizons.

INTERNATIONAL RISK & PAYMENT REVIEW
FOCUS: The Euro Debt Crisis
The
outlook for the euro zone remains uncertain; however, it is clear that
the current levels of sovereign debt cannot be sustained, and this is
likely to lead either to some form of debt restructuring or to the
establishment of closer fiscalties within the EU/euro zone.
